Meg's Visit

First of all, this is Meg, not Scott. I was asked to update his blog and didn't want to pretend like I was him, so here I am! Yes, here I am at 4:15 on Sunday afternoon and my flight was supposed to leave at 3:30. I'm stuck in Wisconsin...that's just too bad, isn't it? Well, kind of it is since I need to go back to work tomorrow, but we'll enjoy it for now.

We've had a wonderful time. From skiing at Mount La Crosse to visiting Grandad Bluff (on overlook where you can see 3 states: Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota) to driving on the Mississippi River (yes DRIVING)....it's been an absolute blast. I believe you can see more pictures on the slideshow, but here are a few of our favorites:

View from Grandad Bluff (yes, it was cold)

So Wisconsin is beautiful, but I do have a few odd things I've noticed about life up here:

(1) Gas is the same price at every single gas station in La Crosse. No matter where it is or what company it is. Not only that, but gas is the same price for both Regular and Plus. WHAT?!

(2) You bag your own groceries at the grocery store! I asked if that was something "unique" to Festival Foods (the grocery store) and the lady looked at me like I had 6 heads. Apparently this is just something normal here in this part of the country.

(3) You never know whether you're in a parking space or driving lane or not. Everything is covered with snow, so you never see any lanes or parking lines. You sort of just follow everyone else. Funny, huh?

(4) Something VERY interesting....they have certain days you have to park on the left side of the street versus the right--depending on if it's an odd day or even day! You ask why? So that the snow plows can plow to the opposite side of the road. And if you get confused as to what day it is? You get a ticket! Yest, Scott already got one. Nice law.
